With more than 19 million copies in print and a remarkable record of #1 New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestsellers, Bill O’Reilly’s KILLING series is the most popular series of narrative histories in the world

(New York, NY - February 2023) - Trail-blazing TV journalist Bill O’Reilly, the best-selling author of the Killing series, will add KILLING THE WITCHES to the roster of record-breaking books that he co-writes with Martin Dugard. This will be the 13th book in the series - all of which have become New York Times and national bestsellers. Publication date for KILLING THE WITCHES is set for September 26, 2023.

KILLING THE WITCHES revisits one of the most frightening and inexplicable episodes in American history: the events of 1692 and 1693 in Salem Village, Massachusetts. The authors explore how the witch trials developed - it started as a mysterious affliction of two young girls who suffered from violent fits and exhibited strange behavior, which then spread to other young women. Almost immediately cries of demonic possession and witchcraft consumed Salem Village. Three women were arrested under suspicion of being witches. The hysteria in the Village erupted, however, and soon thereafter more than 200 people were accused. Thirty were found guilty. Twenty were executed. Others either died in jail or had their lives completely ruined.

What really happened in Salem? It all began with the Mayflower journey to the new world. The arrival of Puritans at Plymouth began a harsh period where fundamentalist religious views dominated Massachusetts.

KILLING THE WITCHES takes you inside the brutal court proceedings that lead to death and destruction. The book also traces how founding fathers Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison were influenced by the witch trials. Finally, the concept of “demonic possession” is still with us today as the authors will demonstrate.
