Over the past week, we’ve heard the same two words ad nauseam.
- Rep. Pramila Jayapal: ‘Big tent means big tent.’
- Sen. Raphael Warnock: ‘We are a big tent party.’
- Rep. Robert Garcia: ‘We have to have a big tent.’
- Rep. Seth Moulton: ‘We’ve got to have a big tent.’
- Sen. Chris Murphy: ‘I want us to be a big tent party.’

It’s like a Bat Signal went out to Democrats throughout the land, demanding that all of them say the exact same thing.  That is mainly because some truly odious people have crawled into that ‘big tent’ after being nominated to run as Democrats.  Like the ancient Arabian fable warns, once you allow the camel’s nose into the tent, bad things are sure to happen.

Of course, anyone who wants to enter that tent must come in via the flap on the left.  Democrats are open to Graham Platner, the Nazi-tattooed Maine Democrat and self-proclaimed communist. They welcome Darializa Avilia Chevalier, who tweeted praise for Marx and Lenin.  No matter how far left you lean, the tent is open.  But it is closed to anyone who doesn’t meet certain litmus tests.  If you support Israel’s right to exist, forget about it.  If you object to men competing in women’s sports, get lost.  Want secure borders, tough punishment for criminals, abortion restrictions, or voter ID?  Step back, Jack!

Let’s be real, the Democratic big top is very restricted, as some Democrats now know from firsthand experience.  Rep. Dan Goldman checks almost all the far-left boxes, but he supports Israel and was trounced in the Democratic primary by a Mamdani-endorsed candidate.  Then there’s Scott Weiner in California, a truly horrible man who wants leniency for pedophiles and implied that Charlie Kirk had it coming.  But some San Francisco loons confronted Weiner last week, accusing him of supporting ‘genocide’ in Gaza.  Scott Weiner may still be headed to Washington, but he’ll be opposed by his party’s ever-expanding Israel-hating wing.

Does anyone think loyal Democrat John Fetterman is welcome inside?  He despises Graham Platner and the New York communists he calls the ‘dirtbag left.’  Going back in time, no way anti-communist John F. Kennedy gains entry; he’ll be on the outside looking in with Bill Clinton and other America-loving Democrats from the past.

In fact, that tent is a three-ring circus.  On one side are socialists and communists who are loud, organized, and ascendant.  On another side are a few moderates who are fighting back and trying to restore a measure of normalcy to the party.  And the large center ring is filled with cowardly and frightened Democrats desperately clinging to power, even if it means embracing the radicals.  They are embodied by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who is on bended knee begging for acceptance by the new breed.

Jeffries has assumed the role of lion tamer, but he must be aware that over the years dozens of tamers have been mauled and killed.  And communists and socialists can be far more vicious than lions and tigers. Meanwhile, the Republican elephants are looking on, enjoying the circus immensely and humming their favorite show tune:  'Send in the Clowns.'
